Malaysia: Industrial output records quickest growth since May in November

Industrial output increased 9.4% compared to the same month of the previous year in November, which was above October's 5.5% increase. The print marked the best result since May. The upturn was largely due to stronger manufacturing output and rebounding mining and quarrying production.

On a monthly basis, factory output grew 3.0% in seasonally-adjusted terms in November, which was above October’s 1.7% expansion. Meanwhile, the trend improved notably, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 7.0%, up from October's 6.0%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial output to grow 5.2% in 2022, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2023, panelists expect industrial output to expand 4.9%.
