Luxembourg: Unemployment rate ticks up in March

In March, the number of unemployed workers stood at 15,670, up 1.0% from February’s result. In turn, the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 5.4% from 5.2% in the previous month. According to the Agency for Employment Development (ADEM), the rise largely reflected new registrations in the social inclusion income program. Meanwhile, March’s unemployment rate was below that of the same month last year (March 2018: 5.6%).FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect the unemployment rate to average 5.1% this year, which is unchanged from the previous month’s projection. For 2020, the panel sees the unemployment rate averaging 5.0%.
