Luxembourg: Harmonized inflation rises in May
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation rose to 2.1% in May from April’s 1.7%. The acceleration was largely due to stronger price pressures for housing and utilities. Moreover, transportation prices dropped at a softer pace. That said, food costs rose at a milder rate.
The trend pointed down slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 1.8% in May (April: 1.9%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 2.0% in May from April’s 1.7%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices increased 0.48% in May over the previous month, coming in below the 0.62% rise recorded in April.
