Luxembourg: Inflation picks up in August
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices were up 2.8% in annual terms in August, following a 2.6% rise in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+2.8% vs +2.7% in July), transportation (-0.3% vs -1.5% in July), recreation (+4.0% vs +3.9% in July) and restaurants and hotels (+3.1% vs +2.6% in July). Finally, the variation in housing and utilities prices was the same as in the prior month (+5.3% in August and July).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 2.4% in annual terms in August, following a 2.3% rise in the previous month.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 1.16% in August on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.29% rise in the previous month.
