Lithuania: Inflation accelerates in September from August
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices increased 3.7% on a year-on-year basis in September, following a 3.6% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+2.2% in annual terms vs +0.5% in August), housing and utilities (+2.1% vs +1.9% in August) and recreation (+3.8% vs +2.9% in August). In contrast, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+5.0% vs +6.2% in August) and restaurants and hotels (+6.6% vs +7.3% in August).
Meanwhile, consumer prices were up 4.0% in annual terms in September, stable from the prior month’s reading.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices were up 0.42% in September on a month-on-month basis, following a 0.31% decline in the prior month.
