Korea: Consumer confidence deteriorates further in June
The Bank of Korea’s composite consumer sentiment index inched down to 97.5 in June from 97.9 in May. Accordingly, the index remains below the 100-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among households.
June’s deterioration was chiefly due to consumers’ less optimistic view on their future household spending. Meanwhile, their outlook on their current and future living standards, future household income, and the current and future domestic economic conditions were unchanged from May, with all components remaining mired in pessimistic territory.
