Kazakhstan: Inflation steady in September at elevated rate

Consumer prices increased a seasonally-adjusted 0.28% over the previous month in September, accelerating from the 0.13% rise seen in August. The uptick ensued from a rise in prices for non-food goods and services, while food prices remained unchanged.

Inflation held steady at August's 7.0% in September. Annual average inflation rose to 6.3% in September (August: 6.2%).

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end 2020 at 7.4%, which is down 0.2 percentage points from last month’s forecast. The panel expects inflation to end 2021 at 6.1%, which is unchanged from the previous month’s estimate.
