Italy: Inflation ebbs in August
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 1.6% in annual terms in August, following a 1.7% rise in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, price pressures for housing and utilities reduced in August (-0.8% vs +0.6% in July). In contrast, there were higher price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages (+4.2% vs +4.1% in July), recreation (+1.6% vs +1.2% in July) and restaurants and hotels (+3.2% vs +2.9% in July).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 1.6% in August, following a 1.7% rise in the previous month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices declined 0.24% in August in month-on-month terms, following a 0.96% increase in the prior month.
