Italy: Economic sentiment improves in July
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 99.4 in July from June’s 99.0, marking the strongest sentiment since February. However, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier sentiment in the industrial sector and among consumers. Moreover, confidence in the construction and retail sectors improved. Meanwhile, confidence in the services sector softened.
Regarding indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index improved in July.
