Italy: Economic sentiment picks up in June
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 98.9 in June from May’s 98.7. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected improved sentiment in the industrial sector and healthier confidence in the construction and services sectors. Meanwhile, sentiment among consumers deteriorated, and confidence in the retail sector waned.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index rose in June.
