Italy: Consumer confidence picks up slightly in December

Consumer confidence came in at 117.7 in December, up from November's 117.5. Interrupting a downward trend that took hold since September’s record high.

The headline print largely reflected improved sentiment in the current and personal climate component. In contrast, sentiment in the future and economic component soured.

Panelists project private consumption to increase 5.3% in 2022, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2023, panelists see private consumption growing 2.2%.
