Italy Consumer Confidence December 2020

Italy: Consumer confidence improves in December

January 4, 2021

The consumer confidence index rose to 102.4 in December from 98.4 in November.

December’s strengthening was broad based. Particularly sharp improvements were recorded for the economic and the future subindexes, while the personal and current subindexes gained less ground. Moreover, willingness to buy big-ticket items soared although it remained entrenched deep into pessimistic terrain.

Panelists project private consumption to increase 6.0% in 2021, which is down 0.4 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, panelists see private consumption growing 2.7%.
