Ireland: Manufacturing activity records best result on record in November

January 12, 2021

Manufacturing production jumped 55.7% in November (October: -0.4% mom), marking the strongest increase on record. November's notable pick up was largely due to faster growth in modern sector output. In contrast, traditional sector output fell.

On an annual basis, industrial output rose 41.7% in November, rebounding notably from October’s 15.3% fall and marking the best result since January 2016. Meanwhile, annual average manufacturing production growth rose to 3.5% in November (October: +0.2%), signaling an improving trend in the manufacturing sector.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project industrial production to grow 3.0% in 2021, which is up 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2022, the panel sees industrial production growth of 3.4%.
