Ireland: Industrial activity deteriorates in August

Industrial production dropped 2.8% in month-on-month seasonally-adjusted terms in August, which contrasted July's 6.9% increase.

On an annual basis, overall industrial production rose 24.3% in August, which was notably better than July’s 15.4% expansion. Accordingly, the trend improved significantly, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at plus 17.0%, up from July's 14.6%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project industrial production to grow 3.7% in 2022, which is down 0.5 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2023, the panel sees industrial production growth of 3.0%.
