Ireland: Economic sentiment decreases in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 97.1 in August from July’s 100.0. As a result, the index fell below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected weaker sentiment in the construction, retail and services sectors. That said, consumer confidence rose in August.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations deteriorated, while the economic uncertainty index fell in August.
