Indonesia: Merchandise exports grow at a slower pace in March
Latest reading: Merchandise exports increased 0.6% over the same month last year in March (February: +13.7% year-on-year). March’s outturn marked the slowest increase since June 2024. Meanwhile, merchandise imports decreased 1.0% on an annual basis in March (February: -0.6% yoy), marking the weakest reading since May 2024.
As a result, the merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a USD 5.2 billion surplus in March (February 2025: USD 4.3 billion surplus; March 2024: USD 4.9 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend improved, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 43.8 billion surplus in March, compared to the USD 43.5 billion surplus in February.
