Indonesia: Retail sales fall at sharpest pace since April 2024 in April
Latest reading: Retail sales fell 2.2% in year-on-year terms in April, which contrasted March’s 5.5% increase. April’s figure marked the worst reading since April 2024. The figure was largely due to a deterioration in food, beverages, and tobacco sales, as they shrank for the first time since April 2024. Moreover, cultural and recreation goods sales moderated, while information and communication equipment sales contracted at a steeper pace than in the previous month. That said, motor vehicles, parts and accessories sales improved.
Meanwhile, annual average growth of retail sales was unchanged coming in at March’s 2.4% in April.
