Hungary: Inflation eases in April
Latest reading: Inflation fell to 4.2% in April, below March’s 4.7% and marking the lowest inflation rate since November 2024. The moderation was chiefly due to lower price pressures for food plus a decline in transport costs. Meanwhile, April saw quicker price rises for health, housing and utilities, recreation, and hospitality.
The trend was unchanged, with annual average inflation coming in at March’s 4.1% in April. Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 5.0% in April from the previous month’s 5.7%.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.17% over the previous month in April, swinging from March’s 0.05% fall.
