Guatemala: Inflation comes in at highest level since November 2008 in October
Inflation came in at 9.7% in October, which was up from Septembers 9.0%. October’s figure was the highest inflation rate since November 2008. The figure was largely due to rising prices for food and alcoholic beverages. In addition, price pressures for clothing and footwear increased at a stronger pace.
Annual average inflation rose to 5.8% in October (September: 5.3%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.98% in October over the previous month, accelerating from September’s 0.36% increase.
