Greece: Unemployment rate increases in July, breaking streak of sixth consecutive months of decline

July’s data pointed to a deterioration in the labor market. The number of employed people declined by 29,013 compared to June, while the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate increased from June’s 12.3% to 12.6% in July. Moreover, the number of unemployed inched-up by 10,509 from June to July. Meanwhile, the number of people outside the labor force increased by 16,465 people compared with June, representing a 0.5% rise.FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect the unemployment rate to average 12.8% in 2022, which is down 0.1 percentage points from the previous month’s projection. For 2023, the panel sees the unemployment rate averaging 12.3%.
