Greece: Harmonized inflation rises in July
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation ticked up to 3.7% in July from June’s 3.6%. July’s figure represented the highest inflation rate since October 2023. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages increased at a quicker rate in July while prices for transportation fell at a less pronounced rate. Meanwhile, housing and utilities price growth moderated, while prices for recreation grew at a more subdued pace.
The trend pointed up slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 3.2% in July (June: 3.1%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 3.1% in July from the previous month’s 2.8%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.30% from the previous month in July, contrasting June’s 1.28% increase. July’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
