Greece: Economic sentiment picks up in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 110.0 in August, up from July’s 109.1. August’s result marked the strongest sentiment since September 2024. As a result, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected healthier confidence in the industrial and construction sectors. That said, sentiment in the services and retail sectors softened. Lastly, consumer confidence cooled in August.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations weakened, while the economic uncertainty index fell in August.
