Germany: Industrial output falls in August

Industrial output fell 0.2% on a calendar-adjusted month-on-month basis in August (July: +1.4% mom). The contraction was chiefly due to a drop in consumer and capital goods production, as well as a drop in activity in the construction sector.

On an annual basis, industrial output fell at a more moderate pace of 9.6% in August (July: -10.0% yoy), the best result since February.
