France: Harmonized inflation declines to lowest level since December 2020 in May
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation edged down to 0.6% in May from April’s 0.9%. May’s figure represented the weakest inflation rate since December 2020, and was well below the Euro area average of 1.9%.
In addition, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 1.6% in May (April: 1.8%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 0.7% in May from April’s 0.8%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.18% in May over the previous month, swinging from April’s 0.66% increase. May’s result marked the sharpest fall in prices since September 2024.
