France: Economic sentiment rises in October
Latest reading: Economic sentiment increased to 95.4 in October, following September’s 92.9. Still, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In October, sentiment brightened in the industrial sector (-6.0 vs -10.2 in September), the retail sector (-15.8 vs -16.8 in September) and among consumers (-15.5 vs -19.3 in September). On the flipside, sentiment deteriorated in the construction sector (-15.2 vs -13.9 in September) and the services sector (-4.0 vs -2.1 in September).
