France: Economic sentiment increases in September
Latest reading: Economic sentiment rose to 93.0 in September, following August’s 92.7. Still, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
In September, sentiment improved in the industrial sector (-10.3 vs -10.4 in August), the construction sector (-13.5 vs -13.8 in August) and the services sector (-2.1 vs -6.0 in August). However, sentiment deteriorated in the retail sector (-16.7 vs -10.1 in August) and among consumers (-19.3 vs -18.6 in August).
