Finland: Merchandise trade slips into deficit in August
Latest reading: In August, the trade balance was EUR -0.5 billion, following a EUR +1.4 billion reading in the prior month. Over the last 12 months, the trade balance summed to EUR -0.2 billion.
Exports were down 22.6% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in August, mainly due to a high base of comparison; August’s fall followed a 19.4% increase in the prior month due to a cruise ship delivery. Imports were up 2.4% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in August, following a 0.8% drop in the previous month.
