Finland: Inflation climbs up in January
Consumer prices increased 0.34% in January over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.14% rise seen in December. January’s uptick was the sharpest increase in prices since July 2020. Looking at the details of the release, the result was largely driven by rising prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages.
Inflation came in at 0.9% in January, notably up from December’s 0.2%. Meanwhile, the trend was unchanged with annual average inflation coming in at December’s 0.3% in January. Lastly, harmonized inflation came in at 1.1% in January, markedly up from December’s 0.2%.
