Finland: Economic sentiment turns more sour in May
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 92.7 in May, down from April’s 93.4. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected deteriorating sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors as well as among consumers. More positively, May saw healthier confidence in the services and retail sectors.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index increased in May.
