Finland: Current account swings to surplus in June
Latest reading: The current account posted a EUR 1.2 billion surplus in June, improving from the EUR 0.1 billion deficit clocked in May (June 2024: EUR 1.6 billion surplus). Meanwhile, the 12-month trailing current account surplus came in at EUR 2.7 billion in June (May: EUR 3.0 billion surplus).
The merchandise trade balance improved from the previous month, recording a EUR 1.2 billion surplus in June (May 2025: EUR 0.6 billion surplus). Merchandise exports contracted 4.1% on an annual basis in June, following May’s 4.2% drop. Meanwhile, merchandise imports expanded 1.2% over the same month last year in June (May: -3.3% yoy).
