Euro Area: Industrial production rebounds in July
Latest reading: Industrial production was up 0.3% in seasonally adjusted month-on-month terms in July, following a 0.6% decline in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, production readings in July improved for intermediate goods (+0.5% vs +0.1% in June), capital goods (+1.3% vs -0.8% in June), non-durable consumer goods (+1.5% vs -4.2% in June) and durable consumer goods (+1.1% vs -0.5% in June). In contrast, the reading for energy worsened in July (-2.9% vs +1.4% in June).
Looking at specific countries, output rebounded in Germany and Ireland, and accelerated in Italy, while it shrank in France, Spain and the Netherlands.
On a year-on-year basis, industrial production rose 1.8% in July, following a 0.7% decline in the prior month.
