Estonia Inflation September 2019

Estonia: Inflation moderates in September

October 8, 2019

Consumer prices fell 0.2% over the previous month in September, contrasting a 0.7% month-on-month increase in August. A breakdown by components showed that lower the prices for transport, housing, and food and non-alcoholic beverages more than offset significantly higher prices for clothing and footwear.

Inflation fell to 2.2% in September, from 2.4% in August. Meanwhile, annual average inflation ticked down to 2.8% from 2.9% in July.

FocusEconomics panelists project harmonized inflation to average 2.5% in 2019, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2020, they expect inflation to also average 2.5%, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month’s forecast.
