Estonia: Economic sentiment picks up in August but remains pessimistic
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 88.4 in August, up from July’s 87.9. As a result, the index remained entrenched below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected stronger confidence among consumers and in the services sector. That said, August marked deteriorating sentiment in the industrial, retail and construction sectors.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index decreased in August.
