Egypt: Inflation slows in September
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 11.7% in annual terms in September, following a 12.0% increase in the previous month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were reduced price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages—the largest component in the consumer price index basket (+1.4% in annual terms vs +2.1% in August) and transportation (+26.0% vs +26.7% in August).
Meanwhile, core consumer prices increased 11.3% on a year-on-year basis in September, following a 10.7% rise in the previous month.
Lastly, consumer prices increased 1.81% in September in month-on-month terms, following a 0.36% increase in the previous month.
