Ecuador: Inflation hits a six-year high in February
Consumer prices rose 0.23% over the prior month in February, following January’s 0.72% increase. Looking at the details of the press release, prices for food and beverages surged, while prices for communication and hospitality also increased over the prior month in February.
Inflation accelerated slightly to 2.7% in February from 2.6% in January, the highest inflation rate since February 2016. Accordingly, the annual average inflation increased, coming in at 0.7%, following January’s 0.4%.
