Denmark: Economic sentiment falls in August
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 89.6 in August from July’s 90.9. August’s result marked the worst reading since April 2023. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected deteriorating sentiment in the industrial and retail sectors plus falling consumer sentiment in August. Moreover, confidence in the services sector cooled. Still, sentiment in the construction sector improved slightly in the surveyed month.
Relating to indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations were healthier and the economic uncertainty index rose in August.
