Czech Republic: Industrial production growth hits five-month high in April
Industrial production rose a solid 3.3% year-on-year in April, a five-month high and well above March’s marginal 0.2% increase. There were the same number of working days in April than in the same month last year. April’s pick-up was driven by strengthening manufacturing production—particularly of motor vehicles—and the rebound in output in the electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sector. Meanwhile, the mining and quarrying sector contracted for the fourth consecutive month in April.
In seasonally-adjusted month-on-month terms, industrial output advanced 0.8% in April, following the 0.1% increase recorded in March. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production edged down from 2.6% in March to 2.4% in April.
