Czech Republic: Industrial output drops in May
Latest reading: Industrial output declined 1.6% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in May, which contrasted April’s 0.9% increase, marking the worst reading since November 2024. May’s notable downturn came on the back of contractions in manufacturing and mining output. Moreover, energy production contracted at a steeper pace.
On an annual basis, industrial production rose at a quicker rate of 2.2% in calendar-adjusted terms in May (April: +2.0% yoy), the best result since December 2022. Moreover, the trend improved, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 0.1% in May, up from April’s minus 0.5% reading.
