Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 102.4 in September, following August’s 102.5. Still, the index remained above the long-term average of 100, pointing to a positive near-term outlook for the economy.
In September, sentiment darkened in the industrial sector (-5.6 vs -5.4 in August) and the services sector (+37.5 vs +39.8 in August). In contrast, sentiment improved in the construction sector (+3.5 vs +2.0 in August), the retail sector (+14.9 vs +12.6 in August) and among consumers (-7.4 vs -9.4 in August).
