Chile: Consumer confidence improves in February
The Adimark GfK consumer confidence index rose to 32.0 points in February, from 29.5 points in January, marking the strongest result in 12 months. However, the index remained entrenched below the critical 50-point threshold that separates pessimism from optimism among Chilean consumers.
Consumers’ willingness to buy big-ticket items and the economic outlook for the next year improved from the previous month, as did sentiment regarding current general economic conditions and personal financial conditions. Moreover, expectations on the stability of the country in the next five years strengthened.
