Chile Business Confidence August 2020

Chile: Business confidence hits highest reading since February in August.

September 1, 2020

Business confidence rose to 42.5 in August from July's 37.8. August's result marked the strongest sentiment since February. Consequently, the index moved closer to the 50-point threshold, but still indicated pessimism among businesses.

August's rise was driven by a broad-based improvement, with sentiment in the commerce sector, construction sector and industrial sector all picking up.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report project fixed investment to decline 10.3% in 2020, which is down 2.3 percentage points from last month’s forecast. For 2021, they project it to grow 5.9%.
