Chile Business Confidence October 2020

Chile: Business confidence hits highest reading in one-and-a-half years in October

November 3, 2020

Business confidence rose to 51.7 in October from September's 49.8. October's result marked the strongest sentiment since April 2019. Consequently, the index moved above the 50-point threshold, which separates optimism from pessimism among businesses.

October's rise was driven by an almost broad-based improvement, with sentiment in the commerce, construction and industrial sector all recording notable gains. On the other hand, sentiment in the mining sector cooled.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report project fixed investment to expand 6.1% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. For 2022, they project it to grow 4.4%.
