Bulgaria: Inflation hits fresh multi-year high in September

Consumer prices rose 0.3% over the previous month in September, following a 0.1% month-on-month increase in August. According to the Statistical Institute, food prices were sharply higher in September while the rise in transport prices moderated from August.

Inflation ticked up to a multi-year high of 3.6% from 3.5% in August. Meanwhile, annual average inflation edged up to 2.7 from 2.6%.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect inflation to end the year at 2.5%, which is unchanged from last month’s estimate. For 2019, panelists expect inflation to end the year at 2.7%, also unchanged from last month’s estimate.
