Bulgaria: Inflation accelerates in September from the prior month
Latest reading: Consumer prices rose 5.6% on a year-on-year basis in September, following a 5.3% increase in the prior month.
Relative to August, there were higher price pressures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (+8.7% on a year-on-year basis vs +8.5% in August) and transportation (+0.4% vs -1.5% in August). In contrast, price pressures eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages in September(+6.2% vs +6.9% in August).
Meanwhile, harmonized consumer prices increased 4.1% in annual terms in September, following a 3.5% rise in the prior month.
Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.79% in September in month-on-month terms, following a 0.13% increase in the prior month.
