Brazil Business Confidence October 2021

Brazil: Industrial business confidence falls for third month running in October

October 23, 2021

The Getulio Vargas Foundation’s (Fundação Getúlio Vargas) industrial business confidence index came in at 105.2 in October, down from 106.4 in September. Consequently, the index remained above the 100-point threshold, indicating optimism among businesses.

October’s moderation reflected a deterioration in firms' views of the current economic situation, while their perception of the future economic situation also turned less optimistic.

Panelists surveyed for this month’s LatinFocus report see fixed investment expanding 14.7% in 2021, which is up 0.9 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 0.6% in 2022.
