Belgium: Harmonized inflation eases in May
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation dropped to 2.8% in May, from April’s 3.1%. May’s figure marked the lowest inflation rate since January 2024 as prices for food, housing and utilities, and hospitality rose at a softer pace compared to the prior month.
In addition, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 4.3% in May (April: 4.5%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 2.0% in May from the previous month’s 2.5%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.09% from the previous month in May, a softer fall than the 0.67% drop logged in April.
