Belgium: Harmonized inflation falls to over one-year low in April
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation fell to 3.1% in April, following March’s 3.6%. April’s figure marked the lowest inflation rate since January 2024. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation declined at a quicker rate, and housing and utilities prices rose at a weaker pace. Moreover, prices for recreation grew at a more subdued pace.
The trend pointed down slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 4.5% in April (March: 4.6%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation fell to 2.5% in April from March’s 2.9%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.67% from the previous month in April, a sharper drop than March’s 0.45% fall. April’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
