Belgium: Industrial activity falls at sharper pace in August
Industrial production collapsed 6.5% year-on-year in seasonally-adjusted terms in August (July: -0.9% s.a. yoy).
The figure was partly due to a sharper drop in manufacturing production. In addition, energy output fell severely.
On a seasonally-adjusted monthly basis, factory output rose at a more moderate pace of 0.2% in August (July: +3.3% mom). Meanwhile, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 1.4% in August, down from July’s minus 0.5%.
