Belarus: Inflation hits over two-year high in June
Latest reading: Inflation edged up for a fifth consecutive month in June, reaching 7.3% (May: 7.1%). June’s reading was the highest since February 2023. Looking at the details of the release, costs rose more sharply for housing and utilities plus food; seasonal produce prices have spiked after price controls were lifted on over 100 types of goods in April. Contrarily, transport and textile price pressures moderated.
Annual average inflation rose to 6.0% in June (May: 5.9%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.90% from the previous month in June, accelerating from the 0.70% rise recorded in May.
