Belarus: Industrial activity contracts at record pace in May

Industrial output slid 11.0% compared to the same month of the previous year in May, which was a deterioration from April's 10.6% decrease. May's outturn marked the worst reading on record.

Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 0.1% in May (April: +2.0%), signaling a worsening trend in the industrial sector.

FocusEconomics panelists project that industrial production will decrease -9.6% in 2022, which is down 0.5 percentage points from last month’s projection. In 2023, industrial output is seen increasing 0.9%.
